In recent years, the topic of consciousness is has become popular among subcultures and mainstream alike in America. Though an ancient concept and practice, it seems to have fallen out of focus through periods of humanity. There will always be though who practice or study it more than others, but that is the nature of it. I'm not here to speak on the history of other practices or experiences, but rather speak on my own understanding. It has been my journey awakening to my own consciousness that has opened me to this current understanding.
Consciousness by definition is "the state of being awake and aware of one's surroundings"- Oxford Dictionary. We are all inherently conscious on some level due to our ability to see, interpret and respond to our surroundings. As we age and develop, we also expand our consciousness with new experiences and understandings about the world that we had not previously seen. Then, those who set intentions to expand through inner study of their own consciousness can continue to discover new levels of what they can perceive in their own life and surroundings. To understand the why's and the how's of one's own process in life is to open up the opportunity for personal choice and changing one's own path. Consciousness doesn't have an inherent spiritual association, though new discoveries through expanded awareness can lead someone to perceive experiences of a more spiritual nature.
That's where the Divine Feminine comes in. She is a collective energy that coexists in balance with Divine Masculine energy. Each embodies unique traits which support each other in their differences, as best depicted in the Yin Yang. Feminine energy, or Yin, is receptive, grounded, intuitive, nurturing, peaceful and introspective. The Masculine energy, or Yang, is an active energy, full of vigor, optimism and movement. Each of us contains both energies, though not always in balance. Each energy also has both its dark and light sides which express themselves as negative and positive versions of each attribute. So when we talk about the Divine Feminine & Divine Masculine, we are talking about the positive aspects.
The Divine Feminine energy is one that uses the feminine traits of receptivity, grounding, intuition, nurture, peace and introspection to promote healing and well-being within and around her. She receives ancestral guidance and carries out her life path with integrity and honor. Her way of being in the world brings peace to the disturbed, unravels that which is knotted and holds the door open for others to see clearly their path ahead.
While my path calls me to embody Divine Feminine energies as part of my path, it is not without it's difficulties. Balance is a state of practice and in a world pulling against that balance, there are times of imperfection. However, the Divine Feminine consciousness is still a huge part of my life - even when I was completely unaware of what was happening. It is how I connect to the spirit realm, receive visions and transmute energy into art. The Divine Feminine aesthetic is similar to its energy - fluid, soft, bright and powerful but subtle. All of these aspects can be seen within my art and their individual magic is undeniable, even if it is only a single image that pulls on your individual heart strings.
Allowing my art to activate the Divine Feminine consciousness within you can be an activating step in your long spiritual awakening journey. Being activated does not mean that this is the only focus of your journey though. Some may be called as part of a greater Divine Feminine journey, but others may be primarily Divine Masculine finding greater inner balance through Divine Feminine energy. Some viewers may be brand new to their spiritual awakening journey and have no idea why my art feels so captivating. No matter where you are on your journey, my spiritual consciousness paintings can activate something new within you and help support your journey subconsciously as a daily reminder hanging on the walls of your home, work space or spiritual altar. This is the nature of the Divine Feminine and her subtle influencing ways.
